Fortal® high strength alloys contain zinc, magnesium and copper which, when combined with aluminium, give them, after quenching and aging, optimal mechanical resistance. Every plate is then stress relieved by stretching to guarantee low residual stress within the thickness. Users can therefore start immediate machining and use the finished part without the need for any further stabilization or secondary hardening. The different range of thickness makes Fortal particularly suitable for a variety of applications in the engineering industry that require high mechanical properties, excellent machinability and very good dimensional stability.
